30 March 2025 | Wuhu, China

The WHA Official Parachute Demonstration Team took to the skies over Wuhu on 30 March 2025, performing a three-person flag-and-smoke parachute display as part of the opening programme of the 2025 Wuhu Marathon and Chinese Athletics Association 10 km Elite Race — Wuhu.

Held at the Wuhu Aviation New City Sports Center, the event brought together 16,000 runners from across China for one of the country’s distinctive aviation-themed marathon events.

As part of the opening aviation programme, three members of the WHA Official Parachute Demonstration Team performed a coordinated parachute display. One parachutist carried the national flag of the People’s Republic of China, while two accompanying parachutists performed smoke displays on either side of the formation.

Following canopy deployment, the three parachutists established a coordinated formation above the event area, presenting the national flag prominently as the team descended toward the designated landing area.

The display formed part of a wider aviation programme accompanying the marathon opening ceremony. Aviation has become a defining feature of the Wuhu Marathon, reflecting the character of Wuhu Aviation New City and the region’s growing aviation industry.

For WHA, the demonstration also represented a direct operational application of its parachuting capability. The WHA Official Parachute Demonstration Team supports public events, airshows and ceremonial programmes with display concepts including formation parachuting, flag displays and smoke demonstrations, subject to airspace, drop-zone, aircraft, weather and operational requirements.

From parachute design and manufacturing to rigging, operational support and display jumping, WHA maintains a close connection between the systems it produces and the environments in which parachutes are used.
